The doctor has 16-20 patient encounters a day with a 4 1/2-day work week. Thousands of active files in Revolution EHR system. Appointment schedule averages 3-4 weeks for non-emergency appointments. With no full-time ophthalmologist for 90 miles, there are frequent opportunities to practice full scope optometry as well as involvement in co-management care. Patient base ranges from 5 to 95 years old.

Known as the 'Queen City of the Plains', Sterling is the largest city in Northeastern Colorado. It is the county seat for Logan County. The population of Logan County in 2023 was 20,619. On a daily basis we will have patients from Phillips, Sedgwick, and Yuma counites come for optometric care. So, the service area population is far greater than 20,000.
Sterling offers many activities to participate, including 17 parks totaling 130 acres, there are many ways to enjoy these beautifully groomed areas. Pioneer Park is one of the larger and includes an 18-hole frisbee golf course. The Hellfire Disc golf club offers leagues for the new and the experienced enthusiasts. There are 5.5 miles of walking paths in the parks. The parks include basketball, tennis, pickleball courts and a 3-field softball complex.
Sterling offers basketball, softball, and volleyball leagues for children and adults. There is a large outdoor swimming pool for summer use and a heated indoor pool enjoyed year around. While not organized by the city, there are bowling leagues and dart leagues open to all who enjoy those sports. There are two 18-hole public golf courses in Sterling. The city offers a fishing pond for children to learn and practice their fishing skills. The North Sterling Reservoir covers 2880 acres and is used by boaters, anglers, and water skiers. The shoreline is open to hiking, biking, and picnics.
Service clubs include Lions, Rotary, Elks, VFW, and Knights of Columbus. These organizations are active in the community and welcome new members.
There are over 25 churches in Sterling, so there is a house of faith for a wide range of believers. For the musically inclined, the Windsong Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines and performs their musical talent with semi-annual performances. The Sterling Master Chorale provides opportunities for Northeastern Colorado residents that love to sing to gather to rehearse and publicly perform twice a year.
The July Jamz is a fantastic free concert series held each Friday evening in July. Held at the Courthouse Square, bring your lawn chair and enjoy the variety of bands providing country, jazz, blues, folk, rock, or Celtic music. The Colorado Flatlands Hot Rod Club hosts a large car show each summer. This multi-day event features a wide range of cars and pick-ups from several states. The Sterling airport is a great place to learn to fly. Sterling is home to Northeastern Junior College. NJC is the largest 2-year residential college in Colorado. There are 10 NJCAA athletic teams, often one or more will be nationally ranked and are exciting to watch.
The county has a rich agricultural heritage and scenic landscapes. Logan County is home to diverse wildlife including deer, antelope, wild turkeys, waterfowl of ducks and geese, game fowl of pheasants, quail, and doves. The Logan County Shooting Sports complex offers facilities for trap and skeet shooting for beginners and experienced shooters. Leagues are open to new participants. There is a growing presence of wind and solar fields providing renewal energy. There is much to enjoy and participate in Sterling and Logan County but if there is a desire to attend some event in Denver, it is an easy 2-hour drive along I-76.
