A well-established, traditional practice located in beautiful, downtown Opelika, AL. The practice has been open for well-over 40 years and is currently known as Southern Eye Care Associates dba Whatley Eye Care.

With the building addition in 2019, the potential for growth is extremely apparent. The office currently has four fully equipped exam lanes.  Although we currently run as a one doctor office, the layout and equipment is already setup to handle more.

Our patients range in all ages and we accept most medical and vision insurances. On a typical day we may see 18-24 patients with approximately 80% full eye exams.

I purchased the practice in 2018. The optometrist I purchased from still enjoys working and is a true asset to the practice. He would like to continue practicing for at least five more years, 2.5-3.5 days/week.

Our building is approximately 3,000 square feet with four large exam rooms, a pretest room, two doctors’ offices, sub-waiting room, two-room dispensary/frame area, waiting room/ reception area, optical lab, contact lens storage, staff break room, and basement storage. The building is currently leased and has a contract thru March 2030.

Opelika offers so many opportunities for families and recreation. We are only ten miles from Auburn University and forty miles from beautiful Lake Martin. If you love to travel we are very close to Atlanta International Airport. Of course there is no need to travel far to get the old downtown feel from Opelika. They have refurbished much of the main streets and have an abundance of shops and fantastic restraints. Opelika is known for Food Truck Fridays, Victorian Christmas Porch Tour, Azalea and Dogwood trail, and other fun community events.
