Cottage Grove, Wisconsin is a small, growing community of 12,500 people that gives a small-town vibe but enjoys the recreation and culture of Madison which is the capital of Wisconsin and home of the Big 10 University of Wisconsin Badgers. Enjoy the lake life on all 3 lakes in the Madison chain plus major shows and performances at the Overture Center downtown.

I moved here in 1998 because Madison was ranked #1 place to live in the United States by Money Magazine. I have not been disappointed, and my kids have set up home in the area as well. This is a great place to raise a family and enjoy all kinds of activities. I started Cottage Grove Eye Care in 2014 after being employed for 15 years at another privately owned eye care clinic. I tired of being employed with lack of control and opened with the sole goal of giving my patients the best care possible. My patients give positive feedback about the high technology that I deliver during comprehensive eye exams.

Here is a breakdown of my equipment:

• Marco Autorefractor and Lensometer that feeds into my Marco TRS-5100 Refraction System.
• Lensometry, autorefraction, keratometry, and final refraction numbers are downloaded into my Revolution EHR cloud-based system. No manual input of data required.
• Brand new Optos California just installed June 2025. I opened Cottage Grove Eye Care with the Optos Daytona and just upgraded to the Optos California. Daytona images have been migrated to the Optos Advanced cloud-based viewing software for viewing and comparing new and old images. My Optos lease was completed at the Vision Source Exchange at a super low rate which will be transferable to the new owner.
• Optovue OCT with Angiography OCT (2021). This instrument has a wellness screening that takes a closer look at the macula and performs GCC analysis. I combine this with the Optomap to provide patients with an opportunity to get best technology during comprehensive eye examinations. The Optovue OCT is great for tracking retinal pathologies during problem focused office visits.
• Firefly Slit Lamp that has imaging and video capabilities. I have connected this instrument to a high definition display to educate patients about anterior segment pathology. This provides an excellent opportunity to show patients their anterior segment problems and offer in-house solutions.
• Olleyes Virtual Visual Field Analyzer to provide patients with a comfortable experience during visual fields.
• Tear Care Dry Eye System to improve meibomian gland function.

I was a member of Vision Source while employed at my previous location and stayed on with Vision Source while opening Cottage Grove Eye Care. I participate in the Optical Dream and Frame Dream to increase practice revenue and give employees incentives. My optical has 800+ frames and does well selling Varilux XR and EyeZen products. We have worked well to increase capture rate and second pair purchases.

My lease is very low and goes until 2029 with a 1 year add on option. I have a high net revenue percentage and would like to share my strategies with the new owner. My goal is to sell to an optometrist that wishes to stay in Vision Source. Vision Source has taught me great practice management strategies that I wish to transfer on to the next owner. I plan to work closely with the new owner to provide the smoothest transfer of eye care possible.
